Are you thinking about taking that next vacation to Jamaica? Known as the birthplace of reggae, Jamaica has so many wonderful sites to see, so many places to experience and adventure to be had, it can be quite daunting to decide which would be the best. Jamaica is a tourist destination with four main tourist hubs, Port Antonio, Ocho Rios, Negril and Montego Bay. There is something for everyone.
Negril Beach, or Seven Mile Beach, is one of the most beautiful as its white sand meets the aqua blue of the sea. There are many resorts laying claim along this beautiful setting. Here you will find various water sports and a snorkeler’s paradise where schools of fish populate the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.
DOCTOR’S CAVE BEACH, MONTEGO BAY
Doctor’s Cave Beach is another wonderful, scenic spot in Jamaica located in Montego Bay. It boasts a gorgeous white sand beach and, according to legend, curative powers from swimming in the water at this beach.
Located in Port Antonio, this extremely popular attraction includes a 20-foot waterfall that pours into the clear, cool waters below. Visitors who prefer a good dare will find themselves swinging out on a rope and jumping into the waters below.
MARTHA BRAE RIVER
For a nice, relaxing, picturesque adventure, rafting down the Martha Brae has it all. It’s a tropical paradise you can enjoy from your locally guided bamboo raft.
NEGRIL CLIFF, RICK’S CAFE
Daredevils beware. Watching this activity is one thing, participating in it is a whole other ball game. Cliff diving a Rick’s is a popular attraction to watch and for those adventurous enough, to take a leap. The jump can be as high as 35 feet, some locals even take it from the tree tops.
This is Jamaica’s capital, located at the base of the Blue Mountains. It is also the home to Bob Marley and the Bob Marley Museum. This historic city offers many wonderful sites to include Hope Gardens, National Heroes Park, and Port Royal.
At once, Port Antonio resembles a sleepy fishing village. But this gorgeous spot offers visitors many choices such as hiking jungle trails, and snorkeling and scuba diving the coral reefs. It also houses the beautiful 60-meter Deep Blue Lagoon.
RAINFOREST BOBSLED AT MYSTIC MOUNTAIN
For those with an adventurous spirit, Mystic Mountain offers a ski lift ride up, then a bobsled down! Mystic Mountain also has a fantastic zip line course.
DUNN’S RIVER FALLS
Possibly the most popular of attractions in Jamaica, Dunn’s River Falls finds many visiting its amazing waters. There are many refreshing pools, where you can slide into or simply swim in.
FLOYD’S PELICAN BAR
Located in Parottee Bay, a tiny village, Floyd’s is quite unique. For starters, it’s about a half mile into the sea and built on wooden stilts, the roof covered by palm leaves. But once there, the fresh seafood and cool beverages are worth it!
